Well...it's been a while since I've posted here, alot has happened.
First, we were told that court didn't go in our favor, the circuit judge ruled that the bio mom should have another chance after almost 3 years of not doing the simple things to get the kids back, and still not being ready, he felt she should have another chance, 12 months, to try again. The kids are doing so well here, Sweet boy loves us, loves it here, wants to stay, wants to be a Hogan, hes adjusted very well, and has expressed that at times he does miss his bio mom he wants to live here. Princess has said in tantrum she wants to go back to her bio mom but with the bonding and therapy shes doing so well and would be the most hurt going back, she does want to stay, but also wants to know why her bio mom didn't take care of her or keep her safe. And Little man has spent more of his life with us than he ever did with her, he doesn't even know her.
So we weer advised to hire a layer, so we did, a very expensive one.
Then our hot water heater went out and have to get a new one. Makes you appreciate having hot running water and showers, boiled water baths are not that fun as a grown up, kids didn't mind it though.
Then the social worker came to us with an offer to keep kids with us, Permanent foster care, where its pretty much a guardianship, we raise them until 18, we can sign for medical bills sports things, school, driving, college, and marriage, etc. But the bio mom would still have her legal rights to the kids and get visitations, it was said it would be therapeutic visitations where the kids and bio mom separately will have pre-visit prep session, then a therapist supervised visit/session, then a post de-briefing.
I think that adoption is ideal and would like the choice of when i feel the kids are ready for visitations, but feel that such guided visits to help heal the wounds is a good choice. I personally would have waited for the kids to be more settled in here and be more able to understand and be emotionally ready. Maybe I'm just to over protective of them.
Social worker is getting papers written up for this, the bio mom has agreed to these terms, she just wanted to see the kids. Our lawyer advised us that this is a good thing given the circumstances. Its the best option presented to us, not the ideal one but best presented.
So there you have it...another page in our chaotic lives.
